The Rehabilitation Medicine Department of the Ministry of Health and Medical Services, based at Tamavua Twomey Hospital began assessing and registering amputees yesterday.
Members of the public meeting the criteria of selection would join a lower-limb prosthesis fitment camp hosted by the Jaipur Foot Organisation in November for eight weeks, the ministry said in a statement.
“The assessment and registration will be for individuals that previously had above or below-knee amputation and those with below-elbow amputation.
“The assessment and registration venue for the Central Division is situated at the Rehabilitation Outpatient Clinic of the old Tamavua Hospital on Princes Rd, next to the Fiji Centre for Disease Control and the Fiji National University’s College of Nursing.”
Registration at the Rehabilitation clinic starts at 8am-3.30pm from Monday to Friday.
“The ministry will post information on alternative assessment and registration venues in the Central Division and also for venues in the Northern, Western and Eastern divisions.
