MINISTRY of Agriculture today handed over a tractor to the Fiji Meat Industry Board which is expected to assist the board in dispose of TB infected carcasses of cattle.

FMIB chairperson Joann Young said using the tractor to dispose of the remains of the cattle would also minimize the contact of staff members with infected carcasses.

Ministry of Agriculture deputy secretary Jone Sovalawa said over the past few years the FMIB had experienced challenging times and the tractor was just one of the ways in which the ministry was supporting the board.

He said there were plans in the pipeline to construct more slaughterhouses to assist the board.
