Update: 3:36PM THE Water Authority of Fiji would consider water rationing should the need for it arise.
WAF said all customers would be advised should water rationing take place.
“Being water conservative is necessary to maintain adequate water levels to deal with emergency situations, such as the current drought situation we are faced with,” WAF said.
Meanwhile, all residents living in rural areas facing water supply disruption due to the dry weather need to confer with the Commissioners office in their region.
In a statement, the Water Authority of Fiji said the organisation was gravely concerned with the impact caused by the current drought situation.
However, WAF says they are taking measures to ensure all customer needs are met.
Apart from the normal water cartage to homes in the country, WAF has also assisted more than 111 villages and settlements outside WAF’s water reticulation systems.
WAF said they had been urging customers to minimise water usage.
