Millions in Western Pacific do not access basic water facilities: Waqainbete

ABOUT 90 million people in the Western Pacific region do not have access to basic water facilities, says Health Minister Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete.

Speaking at the Pacific Health Governance Research Network meeting in Nadi last week, Dr Waqainabete said a pertinent issue in the region was universal access to safe drinking water, sanitation and adequate hygiene.

“This is essential to population health, welfare and development,” he said.
