SUVA High Court judge Justice Chamath Morais has cancelled bail for military officer Rajiv Krishan Padyachi, the man accused of attempting to murder his partner in Colo-i-Suva last year.

The decision was made by Justice Morais this afternoon during the trial, when during cross examination by the defence, the complainant informed the court that Mr Padyachi had communicated with her on messenger in October this year.

Justice Morais told both the defence and the prosecution the matter was serious because the accused was on bail and had violated his bail conditions.

State lawyer Shirley Tivao informed the court that they were not aware of the content of the messages.

After a short break, the defence informed the court the messages were regarding a separate civil matter.

Justice Morais told court that any communication was a violation.

The trial continues this evening.
