Mick has contract extended

Swire Shipping Fijian Drua head coach Mick Byrne’s contract has been extended.
When queried about the extension and how it would impact the team’s preparation for next season, Byrne says he was looking forward to developing the team for the upcoming Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific seasons.
“Continuity is very big,” he said.
“It is really important if you know where you come from and from there you can know where you are heading.
“So when I sit down and have a look at next year and where we want to go, I know the path that we have been down.
“It builds confidence into the decision-making processes we go through with other coaches.”
He said it would be difficult for a new coach to carry on the work they’ve done over the past two seasons.
“If you are coming in for the first time and you don’t know where the team has been and you are starting again, that is a difficult position to be in. So it is a great opportunity for the Drua that we are going to have continuity.
“We know where we have been, we know where we’ve come from and we know where we want to go. So we will stay on that path and we will keep striving for success.”
Byrne was announced as the head coach of the Fijian Drua team by the Fiji Rugby Union last year.
The former All Blacks and Wallabies skills coach signed on to help with the 2022-2023 Super Rugby Pacific campaign.
