Met: Take warnings seriously

The public has been asked to remain alert and vigilant as a tropical cyclone is expected to form by late tomorrow.

Tropical disturbance TD01F was yesterday moving West towards Rotuma at about 10 knots or 18km per hour.

The Fiji Meteorological Service says average wind speeds of 45km/ph will be felt over Yasawa and Mamanuca groups, Kadavu, Vatulele, Beqa, Vanua Levu, Taveuni, northeastern parts of Viti Levu, Coral Coast to Pacific Harbour, Lau and Lomaiviti Group from tonight.

“It is expected to rain on and off, heavy at times over Yasawa and Mamanuca groups, Cikobia Island, Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands,” Fiji Met said in a statement.

“Take warnings and advisories from relevant authorities seriously and remain prepared at all times.”
