Men remanded for allegedly attacking Police Officers

FOURTEEN  men who are  alleged to have been involved in the attack against Police Officers in Levuka over the weekend have been remanded by the Nausori Magistrates Court  .

Samisoni Ralulu, Sekove Naititoko, Penioni Drikibau, Joeli Rabuka, Livai Siga, Josevata Yaqona, Joseua Dovutuisau, Apososa Tacaqe, Mate Yasa, Pita Gauna, Tome Sikau, Peniasi Caginiwaqatabu, Josaia Yalovigau and Abel Williams appeared before Magistrate Shageeth Somaratne at the Nausori Magistrates Court this afternoon.

The accused persons’  are aged between 20 to 45 years and  are charged with various offences such as common nuisance, disobedience of lawful order, serious assault, criminal intimidation, and obstructing a police officer.

The court was informed that all men had opted to be represented by the Legal Aid Commission in the matter.

Magistrate Somaratne remanded the men.

The matter will be called this Friday.
