Members meet to discuss issues

THE Retired Nurses Association had 20 members attend their monthly meeting in Suva yesterday.
Association president Rusieli Taukei said this meeting gave them the opportunity to discuss issues faced by the association.
“One of the issues involves that some of our members who are still employed after retirement.
This includes issues regarding nurses to be licensed to practise,” Ms Taukei said.
“We also discussed about our community engagement programs and visits. Some of these retired nurses also work in aged care homes.
“We also help the Ministry of Health when they need us.
“When they need retired nurses to fill in some areas, we provide and facilitate.”
She said they also had members who were recruited to serve as nurses in other countries such as Nauru, Vanuatu, Tuvalu, Marshall Islands and Palau.
“Most of the members are retired and we are trying to raise funds for our day-to-day activities.”
