THE dream of two Vodafone Fiji U23 footballers came true when they met former England midfielder David Beckham while on their way back from their Brazil tour.
Suva midfielder Nickel Chand and Rewa’s Garish Prasad spotted Beckham at the Los Angeles International Airport in the United States.
The meet and greet session with the legend would remain in their minds for the rest of their lives.
Prasad said he was over the moon and he could not believe he met Beckham.
“He (Beckham) was trying not to be recognised by the people at the airport,” he said.
“I was the first one to spot him and we were jumping up and down after we took a picture.
“We approached him and asked for photos and we were surprised that he said yes to our request. We told him we were from Fiji and we are your biggest fan. He looked like he was in a hurry but we managed to take photos.”
Prasad said Beckham was trying to keep a low profile and did not want the crowd to gather around but they were lucky to get him.
“We were checking out of the Customs and we were the last ones as the other members had already went out of the Customs.
“It was a super exciting feeling. I was hyped up and could not believe that we met him.”
