Medical professionals charts way to combat cancer

MORE than 100 delegates are in Nadi for a Cancer Conference at the Tanoa International Hotel.

Organised by MIOT International, the Cancer Conclave was designed to address various issues related to cancer in Fiji and chart out the best possible way forward to combat the disease.

While opening the conference, Minister for Education Rosy Akbar said helping people understand cancer and treatment options was important.

She said there was a need for organisations and mechanisms that provided family and financial support for patients was also key to addressing the illness.

Delegates at the conference include general physicians, specialists, resident, interns, nurse, diagnostic technicians, pharmacists, cancer patient welfare members from Fiji, and other Pacific Islands and India.
