THE Fiji School of the Blind is under quarantine after a suspected case of measles was reported from the school.

School director Barbara Faruk told Fiji Times Online that they were made aware of the suspected case this morning after which the student was taken to see a doctor.

The school was scheduled to hold its parent interview today.

She said the school was now closed and all borders were kept under quarantine.

Ms Faruk said the student was being kept in a separate room and would be revisited by the doctor shortly.

She said there were 30 students and 20 staff who were all billeted at the school.

Ms Faruk said because it was a suspected case, further action would be taken once confirmation was received from medical authorities.

Meanwhile, Ministry of Health Media Liaison Officer Sunil Chandra said they were not aware of the case and would not comment further.
