McKee to coach Fiji 10s team

JOHN McKee, the Fiji Airways Flying Fijians coach will be in charge of the national team at the Brisbane Global 10s in Australia next week.
Twelve teams will be part of the two-day competition which features five New Zealand, four Australian Super Rugby, a French, Japanese and a Fiji team.
McKee said the 10s competition would be a challenge for his side where he believed various aspects would be tested.
“The 10s will be a big challenge, we are in the pool with Brumbies, Crusaders, Hurricanes, three of the best teams in super rugby and a big chance for our players especially local players, it is important they get exposed to the game at this level,” he said.
“I said to the guys in camp that Super rugby is another step up from the NRC (National Rugby Competition — Fiji Drua took part) close to test match rugby in intensity.
“Once again it will test our skills and fitness in a very highly intensive environment.”
Fiji will face Brumbies and Hurricanes next Friday and battles Crusaders in their pool encounter on Saturday. McKee hopes for a positive outcome in the tournament.
“We are hoping to do well in the tournament but we know that there will be a challenge ahead of us.
“We will take one game at time, focus on the game against Brumbies and then move on from there.
“We have got a good squad but the test will be whether we can match the super rugby teams and very high intensive matches.”
The Brisbane 10s will be played at Suncorp Stadium on February 9-10.
