Two University of the South Pacific students have been crowned King and Queen of this year’s Vodafone Festival of the Friendly North.
Last night, Miss Apex Enterprise Debra Mauitz was crowned Miss Vodafone Friendly North while Mr University of the South Pacific/Pacific TAFE Lawrence Singh was crowned King on Friday night.
Miss Apco Coatings Litia Bola was second runner up and Miss FSC Ms Wainiqolo was first runner up.
In closing the event, Minister for Education Premila Kumar said such an event had certainly benefitted the community over the years through development projects.
“This year, they will do more work at the dilaysis centre in the hospital and this will greatly assist patients,” Mrs Kumar said.
Carnival committee chairperson Rajneel Maharaj thanked the communities of Vanua Levu for their great support towards the annual event despite a lapse of two years.
The carnival raised a gross total of $267, 203.85.
Miss Fiji Sugar Corporation Mere Wainiqolo was crowned Miss Charity after her sponsor contributed $25,555.55, while Miss Northern Service Commission Sayal Singh was runner up to the charity crown for raising $11,091.70.
