NADROGA Rugby Union president Tiko Matawalu has hailed the inaugral Nadroga Rugby Sevens as a huge success unearthing a surplus of talent for the future of the province.
“It has been a success for us in bringing rugby right down to the junior grades and helped us in nurturing young individuals to be professional rugby players,” Matawalu said.
Matawalu said despite the inavailibility of a major sponsor for the pioneer event it was still accomplished without hiccups and was thankful to the Coral Coast Sevens committee for lending their support for the first tournament.
“We thank the Coral Coast Sevens committee for aiding and partnering with us and also allowing our tournament to be a qualifying tournament to theirs,” he said.
Matawalu said with the success of this years tournament, planning would go forward to plan next year’s Nadroga Rugby Sevens on a bigger and more competitive scale.
