A MASSIVE contact tracing exercise was carried out in Tavakubu, Lautoka yesterday where government officials and volunteers visited every home in the area.

Equipped with masks and gloves, the contact tracing teams interviewed and took samples from people living in Kashmir, Link Rd and Kermode Rd.

Lautoka Residents and Ratepayers Association acting president Narayan Reddy said residents should co-operate with the contact tracing teams.

“Now is the time for us to work together because this is a very cost-draining exercise. We can only imagine the amount of money Government is spending on these tests every day but it’s necessary and people need to be forthcoming and co-operate with our authorities,” he said.

According to Health Ministry permanent secretary Dr James Fong, they had the capacity to carry out 600 COVID tests per day.
