Martel: Media plays crucial role in highlighting human rights violations

THE media continues to play a crucial role in highlighting cases of human rights violations.

Speaking at a press conference during the launch of the Institute of Human Rights Research last week, Pacific Islands Development Forum (PIDF) secretary general Francois Martel said the participation of the media in addressing human rights issues was fundamental.

Mr Martel said the media played a prominent role in reporting human right issues not addressed and things that were left behind.
