DEFENDING Coca-Cola Games Boys champion Marist Brothers High School are preparing for a successful defence of its title at the national event next weekend at the ANZ Stadium in Suva.
The Flagstaff brigade are confident to win its fourth title in a row and early indications are that they are on track.
Team manager Navitalei Waiwalu said the preparation had been good and more aggressive compared with last year.
“The preparation is normal and the coaches are working hard to improve on what we left off in the zone competition. We have noticed some weakness and we are trying to work it out before the games,” Waiwalu said.
“We are approaching this as a team event and every athlete is as important as the other. We have a team of young boys who are all good at what they do at. We are grateful for the old boys who have been coaching the boys this season and CK’s Ezy Buy for sponsoring the team.
“We are concentrating on doing well in both field and track events this year. As you know that other schools will be also preparing well for the games and I expect Suva Grammar School to give us stiff competition.”
Meanwhile the team will be co captained by Christine Amato Ali and Setareki Matau.
The Coca-Cola Games will be held on the 24th to the 25th of this month.
