Update: 2:04PM THE trial of Subramani Goundar who is accused of causing the death of a 35-year-old man in Nausori in 2016 continued today in the High Court in Suva.
In giving evidence this morning, Fiji Police Force pathologist Dr James Kalounivaki told High Court judge Justice Salesi Temo that the deceased Sairusi Vunakece’s immediate cause of death was breathing in mud, which caused blockage in his airways.
Dr Kalounivaki said apart from that, he also found multiple traumatic injuries which was too much to mention in court.
Mr Goundar is charged with one count of manslaughter.
It is alleged that on April 29, 2016, Mr Goundar drove a vehicle in such a manner that caused the death of Vunakece.
The trial continues this week.
