Man’s attempt to rescue two children turns fatal

A 26-YEAR-OLD man’s attempt to rescue two children from strong currents at Natadola Beach in Nadroga turned fatal when he failed to return to shore.

Tebaio Tionikai drowned while trying to rescue the two children who were swept towards the deep end of the popular picnic spot.

While the children managed to get to safety, Mr Tionikai was swept away and was found two hours later after police and resort staff conducted a search.
