A 31-YEAR-OLD unemployed man has been remanded in custody after he was produced in the Nasinu Magistrates Court charged with one count of being in possession of illicit drugs.
Jay Krish Shelvin Singh appeared before Magistrate Charles Ratakele.
Police Prosecution Constable Setareki Mocevakaca objected to bail on the grounds that Mr Singh had earlier appeared in the Nasinu Magisrates Court on December 11 last year charged with a similar offence.
Constable Mocevakaca said Mr Singh was found to be in possession of 0.01 grams of methamphetamine and was released on bail for that case.
The court heard that Mr Singh, of Caubati Rd, was searched by police on Sunday whereby 2.0 grams of the same drugs were found in his possession.
The matter has been adjourned to January 15.
Mr Singh has been remanded in custody to file proper bail application.
Meanwhile, police prosecution yesterday strongly objected to the bail application of accused person Avinesh Kumar on the grounds that he had pending matters in all courts in Suva and Nasinu and in Nasinu, had three different files.
He was charged with one count each of burglary and theft.
Police Prosecutor Constable Krishan Keshwan told Magistrate Charles Ratakele that Mr Kumar had a bench warrant issued against him since January last year.
Mr Keshwan said there were cases pending in other courts.
He has been remanded in custody and was to appear again today for bail ruling.
