Man on murder charge further remanded in custody

A MAN charged with one count of murder will take his plea before the High Court in Suva on March 22.
It is alleged that Jekope Neimawi murdered his wife on January 10, 2019, in Nasinu.
The State was asked on the whereabouts of Mr Neimawi’s children and if the department of Social Welfare was involved because both the kids are young.
State lawyer Rajneel Kumar told the court that the Police were to alert the social welfare department.
Mr Kumar told the court of the allegation that Mr Neimawi had poured benzene on his wife and set her on fire, due to which she allegedly received 45 per cent burns.
Mr Neimawi has been remanded in custody and he has also been advised to make a formal bail application.
