Man in his late 20s is Fiji’s latest drowning victim

A man in his late 20s is believed to be the country’s latest drowning victim.

Police say the victim residing in Tamavua was attending a camp at Waiyala, Keiyasi.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro the man had gone swimming yesterday morning and moments later was found floating in the nearby river.

“Several attempts made to revive him were unsuccessful,” she said.

The national drowning death toll stands at 31 compared to 25 for the same period last year.

Investigations continue.
