A man accused of pouring benzene on his wife and setting her on fire has been found guilty of murder by the High Court in Suva.

Jekope Rokovuki Naimawi appeared before judge Justice Salesi Temo yesterday.

Naimawi murdered his 35-year-old wife in Nasinu last year.

Two assessors found Naimawi guilty of murder while one assessor delivered a not guilty opinion but found him guilty of manslaughter.

Justice Temo said he believed the evidence of the accused’s 15-year-old witness who was a neighbour.

He also said Naimawi admitted to burning his wife while he was medically examined by a doctor.

Naimawi was further remanded and will be sentenced today
