Man denies raping, sexually assaulting 11-year-old girl

A 57-YEAR-OLD man charged with a count each of rape and sexual assault pleaded not guilty before the High Court in Suva.

It is alleged that the man raped and sexually assaulted his 11-year-old neighbour between January and April, 2017, in Vanuabalavu.

State lawyer Swastika Sharma served full phase disclosures and informed that court that the accused resides in Suva whilst the victim was in Vanuabalavu.

Judge Justice Daniel Goundar has extended the accused’s bail and has adjourned the matter to December 4.
