A MAN is dead after he was alleged to have been involved in an early morning hit and run incident.
Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said a report of an accident was received at the Nausori Police Station this morning involving a 19-year-old man in Mokani.
“The victim was allegedly drinking home brew on the road side along Ratu Kadavulevu Road, Mokani with three others,” Ms Naisoro said.
“The three left to go to town and before leaving one of his friends tried to get the victim to go with them but he was allegedly too drunk to go with him and he stayed back alone sleeping,” she said.
“Shortly after 2am another man was walking towards Mokani when he heard the alleged accident and he looked up and saw a vehicle heading towards Nausori side with all the lights off but could not make out the registration of the vehicle,” he said.
Ms Naisoro said investigations continue as they await the result of the post mortem.
