THE Vodafone Vanua XV squad had its first training session yesterday at the National Hockey Centre at Laucala Bay, Suva.

The team was picked from this year’s Vodafone Vanua Championship and is now under the tutelage of former Flying Fijians looseman and former Flying Fijians coach Inoke Male.

The team is being prepared for a two-match tour to New Zealand next month.

“This is my first session with the players and we will gauge them individually and as a team over the next couple of sessions,” the Raralevu Village native said.

The Vanua XV squad marched into camp at Pacific Theological College in Suva on Monday.

The Vanua XV squad will travel to New Zealand next month where they will play two matches against Heartland XV.

Former Flying Fijian paceman Sireli Bobo is helping Male. The squad began with a bonding exercise followed by a pool session yesterday.
