A NADI man who was taken in for questioning in relation to the gruesome discovery of body parts in Malamala has been charged with one count of murder.
He was produced at the Nadi Magistrates Court earlier this afternoon.
Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said he has been remanded until October 17 when his case will be called again at the Lautoka High Court.
“The forensic tests conducted confirmed the remains belonged to the accused’s wife who was reported missing earlier this month,” she said.
The woman was reported missing two weeks ago and was later found dismembered at Malamala, Nadi, last weekend.
The 25-year-old mother of two was reported missing by her family after she failed to return home from work on September 11.
Her brother had posted a message on Facebook a few days after she disappeared seeking information from the public on her whereabouts.
The body parts were found in an unused well located near the home of the accused’s family.
The woman was estranged from her husband and was living with her family at the time of her disappearance.
