“MAKE sure to say what you do and do what you say.”

This was the advice given by European Union ambassador to Fiji and the Pacific Sujiro Seam to the district advisories and people in charge in villages or communities attending a two-day Strengthening of Public Finance Management and Governance in the Pacific Project workshop.

“To make sure what you do, you need to participate with the right information because it’s about transparency, about awareness and it’s about the willing and desire to be an educated citizen,” he said.

“Afterwards in the execution of the budget and in the execution of any policy, you have to make sure that the promises or the commitment which were made are fulfilled which is called accountability.

“I know it’s big work but it’s pretty simple, say what you do and do what you say.”

He also emphasised the need for working together to promote change in the country.

“Work in partnership, work together because we can achieve much more together than what we can achieve alone. Anything you do, you should do it together and you will do it better.”
