‘Make good use of resources’

Tui Cakau Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu believes COVID-19 has provided a situation for the people of Cakaudrove to revisit their traditional roots and make good use of God given resources.

In addressing his people through a video on social media, Ratu Naiqama said people’s love would also be tested in this time of difficulty amid job losses.

Quoting from Malachi chapter 3: 10 which challenges people to tithe and see God’s abundant blessings, Ratu Naiqama reminded the vanua of Cakaudrove that tithing should continue to the house of God and to the vanua.

He said the iTaukei people were blessed because they had a village to return to.

He urged his people to make use of the land and qoliqoli that God has blessed them with. However, he also cautioned people to use natural resources wisely.

Ratu Naiqama also urged his people to continue to be obedient and respectful of authorities — both government and the vanua — irrespective of the circumstances they faced.
