Make dreams a reality

Sachin Raj was once fascinated about off-road mag-wheel vehicles. As a child he would draw his fascination on paper during his spare time at Holy Trinity Anglican School. Mag wheel cruisers he thought were the coolest vehicle in the world. Idolising it as the “big boss” car, he never expected he would eventually get to own one.
This week the 36-year-old auto mechanic features a 1993 Toyota Land Cruiser, 4.2 litre straight six diesel, five-speed manual he revived and brought back to life. The owner hadn’t used it for more than five years.
Sachin is passionate about modifying cars, he featured last year with his racing car and he’s back with yet another tale of how he completely transformed an ordinary Land Cruiser.
“I bought this van from a guy who had it parked for more than five years and apparently he wasn’t using it anymore, I bought it and then started all the reconditioning work on the brakes suspension and other important safety aspects to make it road- worthy and got it registered,” he said.

“I always remember seeing the 80 series landcruiser when I was in primary school, I even used to draw it in my spare time,” he said.
Sachin said he bought most of the modification parts online. Mechanical parts where bought locally through the help of friends at Don Kyatt.
“I had already a picture in my mind of how I want my truck to look for when finished so as soon as the parts were ordered I did not waste time and started to strip off all panels and get it ready for an extensive panel and paint.
“After this was the hard part of fitting all the accessories. As soon as that was done my truck was ready for a wheel alignment and it was ready to roll
Modification work included aftermarket 100mm lift kits, extended braided brake hoses, pan hard eccentric bushes, custom made stainless steel snorkel, part time 4wd conversion kit, rebuild diesel pump( to supply more diesel for extra power) 35 x12.5 R15 mud tyres imported from New Zealand, off-road 15×10 negative offset alloy wheels.
Dual tyre carrier (Aust imported), Led facelift lights, Monster wheel arch flares (Aust imported), Custom made pearl green paint (base coat), 400kg heavy duty roof rack.
Sachin’s land cruiser is a street legal. This vehicle is designed for off-road purposes and has hit speed of up to 140kmph on straight clear roads.
In fact I have owned 3 Land cruisers so far. It cost me close to 18k to build my truck and get it to what it is today. It took me around 9months for this to build . Iam grateful to my friends, family and my wife for the support in doing what I love most. Also these builds are dedicated to my late father who would have been proud of me if he was around.
Apart from this I have done a Modification to another landcruiser and have owned an Mitsubishi evolution 4, a r31 skyline, supercharged Levin. A 1972 xa gt coupe an A31 Cefiro (matte black)which won a trophy at one of the car shows a while back.
My dream car is Mk 4 Toyota supra (turbo)
Iam working towards getting this in the near future. And surely work on it and tune it up to make some serious horse power.
I love this car as it is not just a good looking car but can be a deadly weapon on street or track.
I have since sold this truck as I had plans to do other things in life but would love to own another land cruiser if I get the chance to.
It’s good to see off roading getting a lot of attention and new enthusiasts doing up there trucks for off roads adventure. Having a 4wd has a lot of advantages as u can travel to most places to enjoy our beautiful scenery and set up camps and have outing with friends and family.
