Maka to fight Ali

THE Toe 2 Toe Boxing Promotion program “The War” has made a change in the main fight of the night.

New Zealand-based Anthony “The Champ” Paul Taylor has been replaced by Tongan-born Sitaleki Maka who is the WBU lightweight world champion.

He will fight Fiji’s Junior “The Razor” Farzan Ali in the main bout.

Promoter Abdul Feroz said Taylor did not recover from his illness in time for the fight.

“Anthony got sick and could not recover so it made me replace him with Sitaleki,” Ali said.

“I wanted the program to go ahead and in the past there were few promotions where the main bout did not happen and I did not want that in my fight. I don’t want to hide anything from anyone.”

The event is scheduled for May 21 at Prince Charles Park in Nadi.

Maka has a record of eight fights winning with two knockouts.

Feroz said he wanted to give a good fight to the people of Fiji.

“I am investing about $30,000 for the event. The sport is dying in Fiji and I am taking a big risk here,” he added.

“There are six top fights in the program.

“The new promoters coming in with new ideas and it is killing the sport with mismatch fights.

“I’am giving what the public want to see in a good boxing promotion.”

Other fights in the program: Junior “The Rock” Feroz vs Uliasi “The Sweet” Qalomai; Johnny Singh vs Frank Fraiser; Simione Tui vs Savenaca Naliva; Tomasi Dago vs Joseva Vaileba; Junior Wahid Khan vs Kamlesh Mani.
