Maharaj clarifies scholarship

ALL foundation studies will not be considered for the National Toppers Scheme scholarships from 2021 onwards, says Tertiary Scholarship and Loans Board chief executive officer Bobby Maharaj.

He said this would only be applicable to both the national toppers local scholarships and the national toppers overseas scholarships.

Mr Maharaj clarified those students who complete Year 13 locally and were ranked as a national topper in their first attempt would be considered for the awards from 2021 onwards.

“However, it is important to note that foundation studies will not be considered for the National Toppers Scheme scholarship from 2021 onwards,” he said.

“TSLB also wishes to reaffirm that students who have successfully completed and attained the necessary marks/GPA in Year 13 or equivalent Foundation Studies in 2019 in their first attempt are being considered for the 2020 NTS awards so far.

“Applications for 2020 closed on December 31, 2019 and since then TSLB has been processing the applications and making offers to the students who ranked as National Toppers in the Fijian Government priority areas applied for.”
