Ma’afu calls it a day

FLYING Fijians veteran Campese Ma’afu has called an end to his international career after representing Fiji in the white jersey for 10 years.

Ma’afu 34, thanked the people of Fiji who had supported him through the years of serving the country on the rugby pitch.

“I salute you all and everything I put into that jersey was for you guys,” Ma’afu said.

“I would just like to salute the fans out there who have stuck by me for the past 10 years.

“Massive thanks to all the people out in the rural areas all the young kids all around the country.”

Ma’afu is the third most capped Flying Fijian after representing Fiji for 61 Test matches under his name, scoring two tries and represented Fiji to the 2011, 2015 and 2019 Rugby World Cup.

Originally from Kolovai in Tonga with maternal links to Ma’afu made his debut for Fiji in 2010 in against Australia and older brother, Salesi Ma’afu who debuted for the Wallabies in the same match.
