THE Land Transport Authority (LTA) will be able to notify drivers and vehicle owners of infringements via the SMS text messaging platform from next week.
This after LTA formalised a partnership with Vodafone Fiji at LTA’s headquarters in Valelevu, Nasinu, this week.
Vodafone Fiji acting CEO Ronald Prasad said the launch will better LTA’s communication capabilities with customers.
“Whilst we use more and more data and instant messaging services such as Viber, WhatsApp, Face Book Messenger and the likes, SMS is still quite widely used,” he said.
“I commend the LTA for adopting this solution, as it will now provide a simple and effective medium to send notifications, reminders and important announcements to stakeholders.”
LTA board chairperson Vijay Maharaj said through the platform, drivers and vehicle owners can be instantly notified of infringements.
“Basically, if a driver or a vehicle owner has been captured by one of our red light or speed cameras, the respective person will receive a text message immediately to notify them to visit the nearest LTA office to clear their fines,” he said.
He acknowledged Vodafone Fiji for coming on board in the partnership.
