TEN vehicles were impounded while another 16 towed away by the Land Transport Authority yesterday as part of its Urban Clearways operations in Suva.

There were 16 vehicles involving trucks that were abandoned on Suva roads and those vehicles were towed away to the city council yard by the LTA.

LTA chief executive officer Samuel Simpson is imploring vehicle owners to abide by the law and be responsible in relation to the parking of vehicles.

Mr Simpson said vehicles that had been towed to the impounding yard would result in owners having to pay towing charges, storage charges and impounding fees, TINs, etc.

This initiative is part of a package of congestion-busting measures.

New signage and road markings will begin appearing in the next few days delineating the roads covered by the Clearway Regulations.
