GRANTS Betting Ltd operations manager Vijen Kumar Sundar said there was not much turnout of punters as compared with previous years.

“The turnout was not as much as last year and the previous years,” Sundar said.

“We could understand this as most people were still running around doing their Diwali shopping.

“Cross Counter was one of the top bets this year and was in the favour for most punters.”

Great Britain’s Cross Counter won the race at the 2018 Melbourne Cup horse race at the Flemington Racecourse in Flemington, Australia.

The winning horse was ridden by jockey Kerrin Mcevoy beating Marmello for second place with A Prince of Arran in third spot.

All the top three horses were from Great Britain.
