Low confidence level

THE Fiji Disabled People’s Federation has noted that persons with disabilities are reluctant to enter the business sector because of a lack of confidence in their abilities.
Litia Naitaniu, an inclusive development officer with the federation, said people with disabilities needed to be encouraged to start their own businesses.
“The most challenging thing when we start a business is when some people look at our disability and overlook our ability and potential,” she said.
“We have to go into the field of business to show our potential and capacity and this is what we are trying to do in order to break our barriers.”
She, along with 23 others, are attending an International Labour Organisation training workshop in Nadi that ends today.
