Lore reaps rewards of hard work.

AS a young woman growing up on Lakeba, Lore Sera Sarawa pledged to never let her parent’s sacrifice go to waste.

Her efforts to do well in school and succeed in her studies were rewarded after the Year 13 student was named the Dux of Ratu Finau Secondary School during the school’s prize-giving ceremony.

Lore, the third of five children, was also awarded the top prize for chemistry.

She credited her achievements to the love and support provided to her by her parents, Kolinio Musuka, a police officer on Lakeba, and her mother Melaia Sokokimoala, a stay-at-home mother.

She witnessed the struggles of her mother, who carried the role of homemaker through caring for the family and carrying out daily tasks such as fishing, planting and handicrafts.

Following her graduation, the 17-year-old is now aiming to join the Fiji School of Nursing to achieve her dream of becoming a qualified nurse.

She said her success was a result of her taking her parent’s advice to work hard at school.

Lore also urged youngsters to never forget the sacrifices their parents made for them and urged them to have a goal, work towards it and give something back to their parents in time.

Lore hails from Tubou, Lakeba.
