Lonely senior citizens among callers on toll-free crisis line

LONELY senior citizens are among the 2000 callers LIFELINE Fiji received on its fulltime toll-free crisis helpline last year.

Speaking at a charity Gala Event at the Grand Pacific Hotel last weekend, officer in charge Jeremaia Qalobulailakeba said close to 400 calls were received in the first quarter of this year.

“Some call in for suicide reasons, relationship problems, financial constraints, and some call in to say they were struggling with their studies and with children, it mostly involves bullying,” Mr Qalobulailakeba said.
