Local Government Officers Association marks 50th anniversary

THE Fiji Local Government Officers Association marked its 50th Golden Jubilee in Lautoka last week.

Association president Rouhit Singh said the association has had a long history with unionism in the country.

“Fifty years ago a group of council workers took a very bold and aggressive stand to form a trade union to protect the hard earned rights of municipal workers,” he said.

“What we enjoy today is through the sheer dedication and hard work over the years from these leaders.
