THE Fiji National Rugby League is on the verge of securing a sponsorship for a semi-professional competition.

FNRL executive chairperson Peni Musunamasi said a local company had shown interest and if things went well, pen will be put to paper in the next few days.

“This is something which will prepare us for the New South Wales Cup. The best players from the Vodafone Cup will be chosen and they will compete in the semi-professional competition,” Musunamasi said.

The FNRL will hold a stakeholders meeting this Saturday to discuss the local competitions this season.

The FNRL is also still in the process of electing a new Fiji Bati coach.
