FIJI is more than capable of hosting international events like Investec Super Rugby matches and other big international tournaments,” says Fiji Sports Council chief executive officer Litiana Loabuka..
She made these comments in response to questions sent by this newspaper on the impact of hosting big international events like the upcoming 2017 Investec Super rugby round 13 matchup between BNZ Crusaders and the Waikato Chiefs at the ANZ Stadium in Laucala Bay, Suva on May 19.
“It has set the benchmark and provided reassurance to the World that Fiji has the means to host such major events and meet internationally required standards as seen last year,” Loabuka said.
Then she added that last years’ experience showcased the unique and attractive Fiji atmosphere settings in hosting such events.
“Sports in our beautiful country are one of the unifying factors for all Fijians and we are just fantastic spectators. We love our sports as the Sky commentators and visitors to our shores during last year’s games all witnessed.”
Then she said the two franchises (BNZ Crusaders and Chiefs) had given testimony to Fiji being an ideal country to be hosting more games and internationals at that.
“Of course, it also presents the opportunity for Fiji as a whole to step up and showcase our country more. Fiji, where happiness finds you.
” Last year’s opportunity by our Fijian Government, allowed us as a nation to show the world that Fiji is more than capable of more international hosting,” she said
