THE Lelean Memorial School rugby under-16 team is up for the challenge for the Eastern Zone semi-finals next week.

They defeated All Saints Secondary School 39-6 in the national playoffs yesterday.

Coach Meli Serukalou said one of the areas they needed to work on was their discipline.

“We’re in fourth position at the moment and we’re working hard to make it through,” he said.

“Competition is getting intense every single day and we’re working on improving our skills and techniques especially when we will play against tough teams like RKS.”

Meanwhile in the under-19 grade Lelean defeated Ratu Kadavulevu school 26-24 while Queen Victoria School thrashed All Saints Secondary School 32-16.

Eastern Zone president Solomone Seru said this showed the intense level all teams were going through as they head to the national competition.

“All schools would want to secure a spot in the national quarter-finals and each game day we can see new talent and a whole new level of playing rugby in the secondary school grade.
