After the two weeks of training program from the district of Dawasamu, Susana Lewarara, 20, of Delakado was encouraged to further her study in domestic electrical installations.

Ms Lewarara was among the 200 plus villagers graduating from the Sustainable Livelihood Project (SLP) funded by the Government at Nataleira Village.

The former Dawasamu Secondary School student said she was so lucky to be part of this training.

“People were surprised that I’m the only female among males that took the domestic electrical installations program,” Ms Lewarara said.

“As we live in the village, men normally study and work in this field.

“It is new to us in the village if a woman takes this kind of training.”

She was so happy that she can do the wiring of a house and she wants to continue to be a first woman from her village to work as an electrician in the future.

There were 11 training programs namely wooden house construction, household and sanitary plumbing, domestic electrical, solar installation, small engines repair, cabinet making and joinery, garment construction, domestic electrical installations, screen-printing, floriculture, business etiquette and fibreglass boat repair.
