Levula sentenced to 20 years for aggravated robbery and rape

These were the words of judge Justice Salesi Temo for Niko Rokara Levula who was sentenced in absentia after escaping from the court premises hours before his sentencing today.

Levula has been found guilty of a count each of burglary, rape and aggravated robbery.

The court heard that he entered into a 39-year-old woman’s house and raped her.

It was further said in court that he cut the woman with a knife on the lip and chin, and robbed her of assorted items and cash to the total value of $200 on November 5, 2017, in Nasinu.

Levula has been sentenced to 20 years imprisonment with a non-parole period of 19 years.
