YOU can contact the ministry if your health centre does not provide you with medication or dressings, says Minister for Health and Medical Services Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete.

He made the request to the public after reports of patients leaving health centres without medication and dressings for their ailments.

“It is important that we know which health centres are facing shortages in particular and members of the public can contact us,” he said.

“The public are welcome to contact us so that we can alert these centres that face the issue. If it is an issue of them not having made the necessary orders then it’s about making sure that they do so.”

He said the COVID-19 pandemic had placed considerable strain on pharmaceutical manufacturers and shipping services around the world.

“As we all understand there are challenges with and consumables all over the world because of the pandemic.

“The Fiji Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Services is working very hard in connecting the dots and making sure we are able to get access to medicines and consumables.”
