INSPIRED by Australian flanker David Pocock, Fiji under-16 captain Maximus Lestro is ready to lead by example during their Australia tour.

The Lelean Memorial School student said he wanted to follow the footsteps of Pocock but to represent the Flying Fijians in future.

But he declared that his first mission was to lead the Fiji U16 side well in Australia.

He said he was honoured to lead the side which comprised players from other schools.

“At first I was shocked to be named the captain but at the same time honoured and I am looking forward to the challenge,” said Lestro.

“One player who always inspire me to work hard is Pocock because of his ability to steal the ball in the ruck and his all-round game.

“I always wanted to play like him and I will continue to work hard. “As for the team, we are ready to give our best.”

Lestro said the players had combined well at training and would be out to deliver the goods.
