Inspired by the success of dual-code international Semi Radradra, one of Fiji’s future rugby stars has taken a leap of faith and switched codes.

Rugby union player Taniela Sadrugu – an up-and-coming forward who epitomises the rugged, hard Fijian flanker – will join the National Rugby League club, the Queensland Cowboys later this year.

“Semi Radradra is always my inspiration and I want to follow his footsteps,” said Sadrugu, who was a squad member of the Fiji 7s Olympics team.

“I have a dream that one day I can become one of the best players this country has produced. Radradra played rugby union and rugby league at the highest level.”

The 23-year-old said the move was one of the “biggest decisions” in his career and it would only take hard work to achieve his target.

The former Ratu Kadavulevu School student joins the Cowboys with Olympics gold medallist Iosefo Masi.
