Leaders ‘show the way’

AMERICAN author and speaker, John Maxwell once said “A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way and shows the way”.

These are words that the newly inducted prefects of Adi Cakobau School (ACS) will live by this academic year.

The all girls’ school in Sawani had the Education Minister, Aseri Radrodro as their chief guest for their induction day last week. Mr Radrodro according to a Ministry of Education’s statement stressed the significance of leadership to the students, and commended the student leaders.

He encouraged the other students to continue working hard in upholding the school’s legacy of excellence during the event. Salote Bulitavu of Kedra Village in Dogotuki, Macuata with maternal links to Nakorotubu, Ra was inducted as the school’s head girl.

The Year 13 student said it was a privilege and honour for her to lead over one thousand ladies at a well-known school like ACS. “It’s a calling from God and I’m willing to take the challenge, with God I can face anything,” Bulitavu said.

“I think my student body is capable of working hard and overcoming challenges. I think the girls can achieve a lot this year. ”

She said her goal this year is to raise the standard and culture of the school and leave ACS a bit better than it was when she first entered the school gate.

There were about 100 prefects inducted as leaders during the Adi Cakobau School investiture event last week.

“I thank God first of all and also my parents for their tremendous support,” she said.

“They have been there since day one. They’ve been helping me every step of the way and they never fail in meeting my needs daily. This achievement is for them.”

Bulitavu is no stranger to being a leader, she held leadership roles over the years at the school. More than 100 students of ACS were called to lead the school during their prefect investiture ceremony.
